We were born with a negativity bias. This is a throw-back to our ancient roots when we needed to watch out for predators on the prowl. We are hard-wired to survive, not to be happy. Sadly, we use the same primitive survival mechanisms in the modern world which can cause us to suffer a great deal of stress and anxiety.

Fortunately, the skill of cultivating happiness and a sense of contentment are ones that we can learn, just like learning to drive or play a musical instrument. These skills, which we need to cultivate and practice, can stay with us for a lifetime and transform our day-to-existence.

Happiness is a choice and you can make it happen.
